Kansas City Entertainment Districts

Like any young and happening city, Kansas City (KC to residents), has plenty of entertainment options for residents and visitors alike. They are spread across the city, but specific entertainment oriented districts offer more choice than most.CORPORATE APARTMENT LISTINGS

The main entertainment areas in KC are the Power and Light DistrictWestport and thePlaza.

Power and Light District

The Power and Light District can be found south of 12th Street, between Baltimore Avenue and Grand Boulevard. It covers 8 blocks and has over 50 unique venues to eat, drink, dance and be merry.

There are also stores, boutiques and cafes if you find yourself here during the day. There is everything here, from sushi to bowling, theaters to organic dry cleaning and just about everything in-between.

Westport

Westport is one of the oldest parts of Kansas City and once market the western frontier. It can be found centered on Westport Road, south of West 39th Street. It covers several blocks and has 30 restaurants, 25 bars, 15 patios and over 20 shops and boutiques.

Just like the Power and Light District, Westport has a huge range of venues to suit all tastes and budgets. There is everything from burgers to bikes, caviar to caricatures and is well worth a visit.

The Plaza

The Country Club Plaza to give it its full title is 15 blocks of shopping, dining and entertainment south of Westport around West 47th Street. If designer brands and looking good are your think, you’re going to love it here.

With a huge range of one-off stores and luxury brand outlets, The Plaza is a magnet for anyone who lives and visits Kansas City. The opportunities to spend money on high quality goods are endless.

Of course, these three districts are far from everything Kansas City offers, just where those offers are more concentrated. If you like to explore, we have a whole city just waiting for you to discover it.

Venture over to 18th and Vine if you like a bit of jazz in your life. Take a walk to Overland Park to the New Theater Restaurant if you like a bit of stage presence with your meal. The Crown Center has a range of theaters and shows, everything from drama, classics to comedy and tragedy.

Midtown also has it’s fair share of theaters and musicals, including the Unicorn Theater and the Kansas City Repertory Theater. If ballet, opera and classical music is what excites you then you’ll love the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

Whatever you’re into, KC has it. Whether it’s hidden among city blocks or front and center is a particular district, whatever it is, wherever it’s from, you’ll find it here.
