Cool Things to do in Atlanta
A city as large and as energetic as Atlanta obviously has more than ten things to do, but we only have so much time and space. It’s also a challenge for us, to reduce the hundreds of exceptional venues and events in the city down to ten “must see.”
So here, in no particular order is what we came up with. The ten things you must to while in Atlanta.
Alliance Theatre Company
While you’re in Atlanta, you must visit the Alliance Theatre Company. The company is one of the largest in the country and form part of the Woodruff Arts Center and perform in the Alliance Theater.
Atlanta Botanical Garden
The Atlanta Botanical Gardens are 30 acres of green and pleasant land. Located on Piedmont Avenue, on the edge of Piedmont Park, this is an exceptional opportunity to see plants, forest, flowers and even edible plants in one location.
Atlanta History Center
The Atlanta History Center is set in 32 acres of gardens and includes the Tullie Smith Farm, Swan House and hundreds of exhibits from the Civil War, the Olympic Games and other cultural highlights.
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performs at the Woodruff Arts Center and around the world. They are the winners of 27 Grammy Awards and enjoy critical acclaim whenever and wherever they play.
Atlantic Station
Atlantic Station is a city within a city and is a trendy place to spend time and money. The area is full of places to eat, drink and shop, as well as watching movies in a 16-screen IMAX theater.
Centennial Olympic Park
Centennial Olympic Park is a lasting legacy from the 1996 Olympic Games that was held in Atlanta. The park is a nice place to spend time and plays host to a number of festivals and events held throughout the year.
Center for Puppetry Arts
The Center for Puppetry Arts is a great day out for all the family. The venue has a range of exhibits, live events and performances. Many of the exhibits are interactive and offer an insight into the world of puppetry and performance.
The Children’s Museum of Atlanta
The Children’s Museum of Atlanta is another fun day out for all the family. It’s a dynamic, interactive, hands-on venue that offers entertainment as well as education. The museum is designed to make the most of children’s desire to explore and experiment and is well worth a visit.
Fernbank Museum of Natural History
Fernbank Museum of Natural History explores millions of years of our planet’s history and has an impressive array of dinosaur bones and other exhibits for you to enjoy. NatureQuest is a great way of teaching children about wildlife, the environment and the world around them.
Georgia Aquarium
Georgia Aquarium is allegedly the world’s largest aquarium, with hundreds of thousands of species of sea life in an impressive venue. The aquarium is home to whales, sharks, penguins and fish of all species.
