Denver has a wide range of sporting venues and teams for visitors and residents to enjoy. The gentle climate and predilection for being outdoors lends itself well to sports and activities.

Sport is a big part of our lives here and we indulge in it as much as possible. Denver has a huge range of sporting venues to choose from. There are many where you can participate and even more where you can sit back and enjoy the show!

Denver’s main sporting venue is the Pepsi Center. It plays host to a number of our professional sports teams as well as other events. We also have Sports Authority Field in Mile High, where the Denver Broncos practice.

Denver’s sports teams include:

• The Denver Broncos are the city’s NFL team. They play well and fight hard to rise about the competition. The team is known for its fair and technical play. They are currently coached by NFL legend John Fox.
• The Denver Avalanche are our ice hockey team. They compete nationally in the NHL and do very well for the city. They are one of the teams that play at the Pepsi Center. They won the Stanley Cup in 1996 and 2001 and hope to add to those accolades this season.
• The Denver Nuggets are our NBA team. They do pretty well for themselves and play hard but fair. The Nuggets are known for fair play and a great ability with the ball. Their name honors our gold rush past.
• The Colorado Mammoth are one of two lacrosse teams that call Denver home. The Mammoth compete in the NLL league. They also play at the Pepsi Center. The Mammoth won NLL Championship in 2006 and hope to repeat that success this season.
• The Denver Outlaws are the other Major League Lacrosse team to call Denver home. They too represent the city with honor and work hard to stay at the top of their game. Like the Broncos, they play at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
• The Denver Avalanche ice hockey team competes nationally in the NHL. Ice hockey is a big sport here, and the Avalanche have a large and enthusiastic following. They won the Stanley Cup in 1996 and 2001 and play at Pepsi Center.
• The Colorado Rapids is our regional soccer team competing in the Major League Soccer Championships. While championship wins have so far eluded them, they never stop trying and never give up. They play at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.
• The Colorado Rockies are our baseball team. They compete in Major League Baseball and play at Coors Field.
