Phoenix, Arizona is a city with a lot going on. A city in the desert that celebrates all aspects of her culture, from sport, art, sculpture, performance and history. As a growing city, the opportunity to experience culture is growing all the time.

We have put together a brief overview of the top cultural destinations in Phoenix so visitors and residents alike can enjoy the cultural delights on offer in our home.Phoenix Arizona (1)

Phoenix Art Museum

Phoenix Art Museum

The Phoenix Art Museum has an extensive collection of pieces that covers the art of the European Renaissance and Baroque, the Far East and the American West. There is the interactive ArtWorks Gallery, the fashion gallery, regular seasonal exhibitions and over 17,000 works of art to discover.

The museum itself was opened in 1959 and has grown alongside our city to reflect the growing cultural awareness we have all grown to love. It is an excellent place to visit, although it would take weeks to fully appreciate everything here!

Heard Museum

The Heard Museum in Phoenix is one of our tourist highlights that residents enjoy just as much as visitors. The museum celebrates Native American art and culture. The 10 exhibit halls are home to the art, craft and history of the Native Americans of the Arizona region and further afield.

Scottsdale Art WalkPhoenix Arizona (2)

Scottsdale, near Phoenix offers a unique way to see the 100 or so art galleries in the city. It organizes walks every Thursday evening to take in the huge amount of venues and exhibits in the area. With the cooperation of all the local galleries and artists, the Art Walk takes in as much art as possible within the few hours available.

The walk is causal, relaxed and informal and allows visitors to get up close with artists, talk to them about their work and admire a huge range of art within a short period of time. It’s an excellent way to get an overview of what the area has to offer.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum

The Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Phoenix is the perfect place to see the plants that adorn deserts across the world. Like the Desert Botanical Garden in Papago Park, the

Arboretum celebrates desert life and brings it within reach of the city dweller.

There are 0ver 3000 species of plant life and 250 species of bird here at the Arboretum that can all be experienced while walking a 1.5 mile exploration trail through the venue. A great day out for all the family.

While we only had enough space for four cultural venues in Phoenix, rest assured, there are hundreds more worthy contenders. Our city is full or art and culture and it would take you years to see and experience everything we have to offer.

We hope you stop by these venues and experience a little bit of Phoenix while you’re here!
