As well as stunning surroundings, amazing wildlife and being the last real frontier, Anchorage is also a city in its own right. That means there are some great things to do while here without having to leave the city limits.
Here is a small selection of places to visit while you’re in Anchorage.
ALASKA BOTANICAL GARDENS
The Alaska Botanical Gardens in Anchorage is a great place to enjoy tranquility and nature within our city. The gardens have guided tours, unique plant species, interesting sub-arctic growth patterns and an interesting nature trail to show you some of the best features of the resort.
ALASKA NATIVE HERITAGE CENTER
The Alaska Native Heritage Center is where people come to learn about the 11 native cultures that make up Alaska. It’s an opportunity to see the native peoples, to listen to their stories, watch them dance, see their crafts and learn all about the history and heritage of these fascinating peoples.
CROW CREEK HISTORIC GOLD MINE
The Crow Creek Historic Gold Mine is a step back in time to when people followed the gold, wherever it led. This destination preserves the mine as it was when it last worked commercially in the late 1930s. It’s an interesting place to visit where you can learn a lot about our past.
ALASKA WILD BERRY THEATER
The Alaska Wild Berry Theater is a digital theater inside the Alaska Wild Berry Park and Village. Enjoy movies, snacks and live shows, then wander round the park, the trail and see the reindeer.
H2OASIS INDOOR WATERPARK
The H2Oasis Indoor Waterpark is an indoor attraction that offers a taste of paradise in Alaska. The venue includes indoor pools, wave pool, water coaster, lagoon, pirate ship, water cannons and a range of other water-based activities. Ideal for a fun family day out.
THE ANCHORAGE MUSEUM
The Anchorage Museum is the city’s premier historical venue with a wide range of collections spanning the entire period of Alaska’s history. There are guided tours, productions and events held year-round to entertain and educated. A great way to learn about the history of the regions and it’s peoples.
MIDNIGHT SUN BREWING CO.
The Midnight Sun Brewing Co. is Anchorage’s oldest working brewery. Enjoy tasting boards for a few dollars and enjoy the best of local produce. This isn’t somewhere just for tourists, go at the right time to see locals enjoying it too!
